United States Heavy Bombers, Jets In Show Of Force Against North Korea

US heavy bombers and stealth jet fighters delivered a show of force directed at North Korea in a live-fire drill Thursday, two days after Pyongyang's provocative test-launch of a ballistic missile that flew over northern Japan.

Two B-1B "Lancer" bombers from Guam and four F-35B stealth jet fighters from the Marine Corps' Iwakuni airbase in Japan joined four South Korean jet fighters and two from Japan in the exercise over Japanese and South Korean air space, US military officials said.

Donald Trump Says Military Option With North Korea 'Locked And Loaded'

Donald Trump

US President Donald Trump on Friday said a military option against North Korea was "locked and loaded," his latest salvo in an escalating war of words with Pyongyang's nuclear-armed regime.

"Military solutions are now fully in place, locked and loaded, should North Korea act unwisely. Hopefully Kim Jong Un will find another path!" Trump tweeted.

The US president's Twitter missive ratcheted up his already bellicose rhetoric with Kim over North Korea's weapons program, as Beijing appealed to the two leaders to dampen their fiery exchange.

'Fire And Fury' Warning To NKorea Maybe Not Enough: Trump

Donald Trump

President Donald Trump on Thursday hardened his warning that North Korea would face "fire and fury" if it kept threatening the US, saying maybe that tough talk "wasn't tough enough."

However, US Defense Secretary Jim Mattis later appeared to step back from the dire rhetoric of his boss. He described the prospect of war as "catastrophic" and added that diplomatic efforts to solve the North Korea nuclear crisis were yielding results.

French intelligence services have proof that Syrian regime launched chemical attack

French intelligence services have scientific proof that the Syrian regime was responsible for a suspected chemical attack that killed 87 people, France’s foreign minister said on Wednesday.

Jean-Marc Ayrault said analysis of samples taken at the scene of the April 4 attack in rebel-held Khan Sheikhun in which 31 children were among the dead showed “there is no doubt that sarin gas was used” and that it was produced by Syrian laboratories.

Donald Trump Jokes He's 'Gotten Nothing' From China's Xi Jinping So Far

President Donald Trump predicted a "very great" relationship with China's Xi Jinping as the pair met for the first time at his Florida resort of Mar-a-Lago Thursday, when cordiality replaced tough anti-China rhetoric. Trump, in his signature red tie, warmly welcomed his Chinese counterpart Xi, decked out in contrasting blue, to what the US leader likes to call the "Winter White House" for a superpower summit in the sun. Inside the luxurious resort Trump waxed lyrical that it was a "great honor" to host the Chinese leader, breaking the ice with a joke about his own deal-making prowess.

US Strikes May Have Killed 119 Civilians In Iraq, Syria: Pentagon

The Pentagon said on Wednesday that US air strikes in Iraq and Syria against the ISIS group may have killed 119 civilians since 2014, a figure far lower than casualty estimates by monitoring groups.

The figures released by Centcom, the US military command in the Middle East, came from a months-long review of reports and databases, it said, adding that the deaths and injuries stemmed from 24 air strikes.

London-based NGO Airways estimates coalition bombing has killed 1,787 civilians since the air campaign to destroy the ISIS began in August 2014.
