Tamil People’s Council convenes to discuss Local Government elections
A special meeting of the Tamil People’s Council (TPC) headed by Chief Minister of the Northern Province C.V.Vigneswaran was held today (12), at the Jaffna library.
Reports confirm that the meeting was held to discuss the problems surrounding the upcoming local government elections.
A lengthy discussion was held as to whether or not the TPC will contest the elections as a registered political party or if a new party should be created for the Tamil people.
Following the meeting however Chief Minister Vigneswaran stated that the TPC which was created to safeguard the freedom of the Tamil people will in no way be converted into a political entity. He further stated that the TPC will weigh in on political matters as an independent group.
